After almost 2 years of closed borders, new refugee families are starting to arrive in Sydney.

We have been introduced to a number of families who are currently in temporary hotel accommodation but will soon be moving into new homes living in the community.

Starting life in a new country is very challenging.
They have left behind family, friends, homes, possessions, and everything familiar.
Now they must learn a new language, new customs, a new place, different government processes and systems, just to name a few. It is bewildering. As a Companion volunteer you can be a friend and help them navigate all these changes.
